TELEGRAM. The Governor of Hong Kong to the Secretary of State

for the Colonies.

With reference to your telegram in cypher dated

January 14th I have no objection to the proposal in the

circumstances but I would strongly urge that both the

25th and the 26th Punjabis be taken and that one of

them should be relieved. In this connection please see

telegram from General Officer Commanding to the War

Office No.55 of the 12th December. It would be im-

politic and might cause trouble if only part of these

troops were taken. Also the personnel of the aetach-

ment 30th Mule Corps should be relieved and the mule(s).
